20 years of Almaviva

The journey of Almaviva began in 1997, as the product of  joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro, achieving international recognition immediately after the launch of the first vintage. Today, 20 years later, Almaviva has earned an undisputed place amongst the best wines in the world.

The celebration to commemorate the 20th birthday of Almaviva took place in France on Saturday, June 17, presided  by Philippe Sereys de Rothschild, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, and Alfonso Larrain Santa Maria, President of Viña Concha y Toro.

“At a time when the eyes of the world of the wine industry were turned to other places, Chile was still an unexplored land with an exceptional climate and terroir. Our joint venture was as visionary as its two founders. I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to our mother, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, expressing our gratitude and determination to continue this society by raising Almaviva to new heights on solid foundations, Almaviva is a dynamic and constantly evolving company, ready to take on the challenges of the future,” said Philippe Sereys de Rothschild co-owner of Château Mouton Rothschild.

Almaviva has remained faithful to the French concept of cháteau that combines three elements dedicated exclusively to the elaboration and production of just one wine, considering an exceptional terroir, an unique wine cellar and a technical team. The pursuit of excellence through innovation, taking into account the needs and challenges of the industry, hand in hand with the hard work and commitment of all the people working in Almaviva is what has led us to be the Producers of a wine that amalgamates the best characteristics of the old and new world.
